According to FoxLA 11, the Board of Recreation and Parks Commission voted today to permanently close a stretch of Griffith Park Drive from vehicle traffic.
"This is the start of a series of transit improvements our office is facilitating throughout Griffith Park, to ensure the park is a safe and welcoming place for all who use it," City Councilwoman Nithya Raman added.
This stretch of Griffith Park Drive (Travel Town to Griffith Park Composting Facility) was temporarily closed since June due to the community wanting some safety precautions taken after a 77-year old cyclist was killed by a driver on Crystal Springs Drive in April. This is such a huge step of safety for those who run, cycle, walk, hike, etc. in the Griffith Park area as hundreds of cars pass by daily to avoid traffic from the 134 Freeway.
