Instagram is turning 10 and they’re debuting two new features that will limit negative exchanges in comments. To kick off National Bullying Prevention Month, the social media app is trying out these additions to limit bullying and harassment.
The first one automatically hides comments that are similar to others that have been reported. The second feature sends warning messages to users who post comments that are repeatedly tagged as offensive. And the comments that violate Instagram’s Community Guidelines will continue being automatically removed.
“Bullying is a challenge many face,” Instagram says on its blog, “especially young people who are already dealing with additional pressures brought on by COVID-19.”
